FAQ

What is a BBS?
A Bulletin Board System. Before the web, people dialed into BBSes with their modems to chat, post messages, send mail, and hang out. Think of it as a small, self-contained online community.
What is Afterline?
A BBS that lives in a browser extension. Instead of dialing in, you install the extension and you're connected. Same spirit, modern delivery.
How does it work?
Install the extension, create an account, and you're on the board. Everything runs through a persistent connection. The wall, chat, mail, message boards, all right in your browser.
Is this like Discord or Reddit?
Not really. Afterline is smaller and intentional. No algorithm, no feed. Just a board, a group of people, and a sysop. Closer to the way online communities used to feel.
Is it free?
Yes.
Who runs this?
One sysop. You can read more on the About page; for support, see the Contact page.
How do I delete my account?
Open the extension, go to Settings (the gear icon), and scroll to the Account section at the bottom. You'll be asked to confirm with your password. Deletion is immediate and permanent — your account, messages, posts, and all associated data will be removed.
